For this week’s guest post we have an interview with a lovely guest and Tarot/Rune reader – Mystic Jem!
You can find Mystic Jem on Instagram – follow her for some wonderful and inspiring Tarot/Rune messages!
Hello!
Hi!
My name is Jemma, known as @mystic.jem in the online world.
When I am not reading tarot or runes, I am a full time Mum to my toddler son who I share with my husband. We all live together in North Lincolnshire, UK.
In my spare time I love to get out into nature, play video games and consume information in all forms; reading, documentaries, podcasts.
I’m also a Scorpio Sun, Leo Rising and Libra Moon if you wanted a little preview into my personality.
What inspires you?
My son.
He is still so small and he has his whole life ahead of him. He is a blank canvas who can go anywhere and do anything.
He inspires me with his potential and reminds me of my own potential. It is never too late to start something new.
What is one thing that really irritates you and why?
Narrow mindedness is annoying but I truly believe that people who cannot or will not accept another point of view are not necessarily bad people, they may just be scared. What of, I am not sure.
It could be a fear of the unknown, judgement, overstepping a boundary that was placed there by someone else (e.g. a parent, teacher, religious/political institution etc).
But either way, I am not angry at these people. I actually want to connect with them, talk with them and show them that different doesn’t mean bad.
If you could visit one place you have never been where would it be and why?
Japan.
I have always wanted to go there since I was a small child.
I find their culture fascinating… the mixing of the most modern of technology and attitudes with the most ancient of traditions.
Also there is a museum of Tarot cards there that looks absolutely fascinating.
If you could be any creature what would it be and why?
It would have to be a mermaid.
There are other creatures with more magical abilities and more powerful traits but getting to bob about on the ocean all day with my sea creature friends while wearing a shell bra and having amazing hair? Yes, please!
What piece of advice would you like to share with the readers?
Never stop learning.
That applies to every aspect of your life but in particular, the nuances and intricacies of reading Tarot are limitless. The sheer number of potential different card combinations is mind boggling so approach every reading with an open mind, as a new experience and an opportunity to learn something new.
I truly believe it is almost impossible to master tarot. Even the most experienced readers get thrown a curve ball or surprised every now and again. I am glad for that. It ensures I never get complacent or bored.
Do you have a favourite tarot/oracle/etc. deck – if so why is it your favourite?
My Rider Waite Smith deck was my first and will always have a special place in my heart. It was a gift from a friend and is priceless to me.
It is my joint favourite deck with the Affirmators! Tarot deck. This deck is vibrant and fun with adorable illustrations. It makes me feel like a big kid. It brings me such joy!
How do you practice gratitude?
When I wake every morning I count my blessings. It’s simple but effective.
Then every evening I journal. I write about my day, how I felt, what I learned and use that to reflect on what I am lucky to have but also as part of my plan to make tomorrow even better!
What would you recommend to someone struggling with negative vibrations right now?
I always find grounding myself to be such a positive experience when I am feeling the negative vibes.
Do this physically. Step on the grass barefoot, brush the leaves of a tree with your hands, look up to the sky, listen to the sounds of nature around you.
This always helps me put things in perspective. It reminds me that I am a tiny part of a much bigger thing that loves us all and cares about us.
This little blip you’re facing is a minute worry in the grand scheme of things. Don’t let it trouble you.
Final thoughts…
Thank you to all who’ve read this and also Helen for inviting me to take part.
Community is such a huge emphasis for me so to be included and given the opportunity to reach new people is so wonderful.
If you’d like to connect with me, my Instagram is a safe and inclusive space. I am blessed to be surrounded on there with so many lovely people and if you’d like to join us that would be amazing.
Wishing you a beautiful day!
